Recovery - SMG Computers offer data recovery services to businesses and home users. We support;

• IDE, SATA, SCSI and External USB/Firewire hard drives.

We operate our data recovery services using the following policies;

• FREE estimate before any work is carried out.
• No-Fix-No-Fee - If we cannot recover any data, you will only be charged the cost of returning the hard drive to you via Royal Mail Recorded Delivery.
• Pricing starts from £35 - This will cover an hours labour and a DVD containing no more than 4.7GB. We charge an hourly fee of £30 and £5 for each DVD used. The cost to return the hard drive to you will be included on the final invoice.
• 90% success rate.

Signs that your hard drive has failed/is failing;

• The hard drive is making a ticking/rattling noise.
• The hard drive is no longer spinning when you start the computer.
• The hard drive is not being seen in the BIOS.
• Your operating system no longer boots.
• Your computer wants to run scandisk/chkdisk every time you boot the computer.

Should you be unable to read data from your hard drive, or suspect your hard drive is failing;

1. Power down the computer - the more you attempt to access the hard drive, the lower the chance of recovery.
2. Contact us and we will discuss the situation - We can assess the state of the hard drive and provide a rough estimate over the phone.
3. If data recovery is necessary, you will need to package the hard drive and post it to us;

• Ensure the hard drive is well protected; with plenty of bubblewrap/newspaper/plastic bags and inside an anti-static bag.
• Print out and fill in this form - this will provide us with your name, address, contact phone numbers, a description of your hard drive(s) and details of any specific files you wish to be recovered.
• Send your hard drive(s) to us at the address shown below (please post your hard drive via Royal Mail Recorded Delivery or Special Delivery; this ensures your hard drive is insured and trackable).
